9th IDPA at ALGCIf you thought the nice weather and fun times where over for 2010, think again. It was sunshine and barrels blazing this past Saturday October 9th at ALGC!! 74 shooters showed up for the last regular IDPA match for the 2010-year with a near 80-degree day.
A big thanks as always to all the folks that made it happen: John Moson, Gino Lavalle, and John Carrol all pitched in for the Friday night set up. Thank John Moson “The Stage Designer” for another prop (the drop target) donated that was used on Stage 3 “ALGC Shoot em up”. Phil Tolbert and Rod Cabage for running stage 1 “Fourth Floor”. Tim Mcgowan and Han Sim for running stage 2 “Jump Start”. John Moson and Fred Philips for running stage 3 “ALGC shoot um up”. Julie Amstburg and Dave Clute for running stage 4 “Tomato Stake” and “Shoot Reload Shoot”. Dave Clute is main man for setting up the COF’s on the final drafts which are posted on the stage signs. Dave is an Engineer by profession and has some really wild computer programs for this stuff. Dave has also developed an enormous interest in IDPA since coming to ALGC for the matches. Dave designed 2 of the 5 COF’s for the match. Thanks goes out to Susan LaKosh for taking all are money. And finally, the head chef Larry Wenger (Sarge) for feeding all of us.
Seventy-four shooters with 48 in Stock Service Pistol: Han Sim took the first place spot with 14 year old Danny Tan not to far behind in second. Also, not to be overlooked, novices, Gino Lavalle and Amanda Caplinger who shot "ALGC Shoot'Em Up" got three shots off on the disappearing target and shot it down zero!!! Another words, "THEY DRILLED IT"!!! More great shooting. Gino Lavalle shot 19th out of 48 shooters in Stock Service Pistol. Not bad for a 9 year old. Remember, how do you get to the top of the shooters list, practice, practice and practice, and I think Gino has that covered. Don't believe me, ask the proud father who foots the reloading bill.
Wholly cow, can Grand Master Mark McJunkins shoot or what!!! On "ALGC Shoot'em Up" Mark went to slide lock while shooting the disappearing target T4. Mark reloaded, and carefully placed 2 shots to the left side of the head where about 1/4" of the bad guy was exposed, and he was shooting a .45 which was wider than the exposed gap. WOW, what a shot, T4 down zero. Wouldn't have believed it if I didn't witness it myself. People will be talking about "The Shot" for years to come. Way to go Grand Master McJ.
ESP went to Joon So with dominating performance.
