The Debate Will No Doubt Continue

Saturday, August 2, 2003

After this year's Francis Marion, there was a heated e-mail debate where various opinions were put forth regarding what is the best shotgun. We suppose now that they August tactical rifle match, with its plethora of tactical arms, is complete, the "which-is-best" debate will rage on.
An AR-15 carbine with red dot sites may be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of a tactical rifle. But there are many other alternatives.
A little longer version.
Some from the Middle East, might vote for the AK47. It certainly fired fast and furious this weekend, but the accuracy achieved might explain, in part, our recent success in Iraq.

Oh yes, this picture isn't reversed. Week hand shooting was part of stage 3.
The classic AR-15 A2.
Now this is a new twist. The Enfield battle rifle. Yes, there's even a bolt action class in our tactical rifle program.
Another classic battle rifle, the M1-A1 may not be on the top of most tactical rifle lists, but it certainly turned in a decent score.
Even the Ruger Mini 14 can do a decent job, in the hands of a skilled marksman.
The Classic Garand is still impressive. It certainly served John well, firing quickly, reliably and accurately.
